Where to Find Gloom Skewer

Gloom Skewer is a unique spear that cannot be crafted. It is found in a hidden alcove within the final chamber of the Toxic Anthill, which is guarded by the formidable Cockroach Queen.

Prerequisites

Venturing into the Toxic Anthill requires specific gear and preparation for a tough boss encounter.

• Tier II Omni-Axe: The spear is hidden behind a thick wall of mushrooms. A Tier II Omni-Axe is mandatory to break through.
• Gas Protection: The entrance to the anthill is filled with a potent toxic gas. A Gas Mask is required to pass through without taking heavy damage.
• Boss Fight Preparation: You will face the Cockroach Queen. It is recommended to bring your best armor, such as the Acorn Armor set, a powerful weapon like the Larvalance, and plenty of healing items like Bandages and Grumble's Granola Bars.

Location Guide

Follow these steps to navigate the anthill, defeat the queen, and claim your weapon.

1. Make your way to the Toxic Anthill, located in the northwest area of the map, just south of the Picnic Table. The entrance is on the ground level, near the roots of a fallen tree.
2. The entrance is marked by a green spray can and is shrouded in toxic gas. Equip your Gas Mask to safely enter the tunnel. The gas dissipates once you are further inside.
3. Proceed straight until you reach an intersection. Take the left path.
4. Follow this path until you see a green can in a pool of murky water. Drop down from the ledge and turn right.
5. Head north along the walkway. You will encounter a few cockroaches, but they are not the queen. Continue forward.
6. The path will be broken in sections. You must jump across the gaps to avoid falling into the Nasty Water, which will rapidly drain your health.
7. At the end of the walkway, you'll find some Raw Science on your right.
8. Continuing north will lead you to a large, open cavern – the lair of the Cockroach Queen. The fight will begin as soon as she spots you.
   • Tip: On lower difficulties, it's possible to defeat the Queen early with an Ant Buggy, a full Acorn Armor set, and a Larvalance.
9. Once the Cockroach Queen is defeated, proceed to the northern wall of her chamber. You will see the wall of mushrooms blocking a small alcove.
10. Use your Tier II Omni-Axe to chop down the mushrooms and clear the entrance.
11. Inside the alcove, you will find the Gloom Skewer. Interact with it to add it to your inventory.

The Gloom Skewer's Gaping Wound perk applies a potent bleed effect on hit, making it excellent for drawn-out fights where you can let the damage-over-time wear down tough enemies.
