Multiplayer

From Grounded 2 Wiki

Grounded 2 retains the series' strong focus on co-op. Up to four players can play together in the same world, whether online or through split-screen (since PC Game Pass allows couch co-op on Xbox). The game launches in cross-play/co-op form across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Cloud, and is on Game Pass Day 1. Cross-save allows players to continue progress across console and PC. Players enter and leave a session seamlessly, and the difficulty scales with more players (more enemies spawn for bigger groups). Communication and teamwork are key: for example, one friend can aggro a swarm while others flank, or you can focus on different tasks (building vs. crafting) simultaneously. An important limitation is that the game remains locked to four-player co-op; Obsidian states they won't expand beyond 4, to keep gameplay focused. Both public and private lobbies are possible. There is no mention of PvP – all co-op is PvE by design.

Because Brookhollow Park is large, co-op especially helps with exploration: one player might scout out a new biome on a buggy while others fortify the base. Enemies attacking one player will chase them through tall grass, so friends make good bait/shield as noted in previews. If a player dies, teammates can revive them (as before), so group play can be forgiving. Overall, Grounded 2's multiplayer works much like the first: 1–4 friends share a persistent base and world, loot together, and tackle big bugs cooperatively.
